ECI Supports the Community
Giving back to the community is important to the principals of Engen Contacting, Inc. Since 2015, Chris Engen, President of ECI, has served on the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity. He says, “It’s my small contribution to a ‘faith-based’ organization that does so much for the community – I am honored to be a part of such ‘forward thinking’ group of proactive board members.”
Austin Habitat for Humanity (AHFH) is a non-profit organization that provides Austinites with affordable and sustainable homes. The ReStore supports this mission by providing salvaging services and selling gently used construction materials and furniture. The community benefits from keeping tons of construction waste out of the landfill and from having a rich resource for Austin’s design and reuse culture that is located in the heart of the city. The building also serves as the new headquarters for the organization. The new AHFH headquarters, which ECI built, has just received a 4-Star rating from the Austin Energy Green Building Program.
The Board has been very active in the past few years, and Chris’ expertise has been extremely helpful in achieving the organizations goals: opening the new headquarters that houses both the administrative side of the organization and the Restore retail outlet; expanding resources for locating more land to build homes at a higher volume over the next 5 years; and raising funds to acquire the needed land.
Engen Contracting Inc. looks forward to continuing to support Habitat for Humanity and its mission to build affordable homes for hardworking families in Austin and Central Texas.
